Dove co-founded the CROWN Coalition to advance anti-hair discrimination legislation called The CROWN Act. The CROWN Act, which stands for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, is a law that prohibits racial discrimination based on natural textures and protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists, and bantu knots.
According to their research, Black women’s hair is 2.5x more likely to be perceived as unprofessional. Read that again.
Race-based hair bias and discrimination remains a systemic problem in the workplace, disproportionately impacting
Black women’s deserved employment opportunities and professional advancement – and it has to stop.
