For my Middle East History Term Paper, I analyze the crusades in modern popular culture.

The tales of heroics, pain, chivalry and religion from the Crusades have moved outside the halls of academia and into living rooms, theatres and televisions as people continue to marvel at this extraordinary event in history. As a result, the Crusades manifest themselves in many interesting mediums to weave a rich tapestry of stories and narratives in modern popular culture. 

This first episode in the series focuses on the crusades in the television and film media with focus on Game of Thrones and Kingdom of Heaven. I analyze how the crusades have filtered into the consciousness of content creators and how it has become a recurring source of inspiration for them.
