When we hear the word poverty, most people immediately associate it with financial lack. I propose to you that financial lack is one of the results of a poverty spirit...it is not poverty. To be completely healthy and whole we must learn to discern between what is fruit and what is the root. Our internal realities create our external realities.A Poverty spirit is literally "living with meager possibilities". This mind-set will steal hope and will create in us a victim mentality. As a victim, I have no power, no voice and no control in my life. Life just happens and I am at the mercy of its shaking.THE CURE FOR A POVERTY SPIRIT IS: SELF-CONTROL! We are responsible for ourselves and we are powerful people. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love & self-discipline."Repeat this with me: "I AM POWERFUL!" Now, act like you believe it and govern your life...not independent from God, but in a beautiful partnership with Him.
