When the Rooster Crows: The Art of Real Influence
Yin Fire Rooster Month · Hexagram 31, Influence
We step into the Yin Fire Rooster month. Yin Fire is not the bonfire. It's candlelight, the lamp in the window, the moon on water: warmth that draws you closer rather than heat that pushes you back. The Rooster is Yin Metal; refined, precise, a little vain in the best way. Think jewelry, a well-cut blade, the bird that struts because it knows it's beautiful.
Put them together and you get fire refining metal: the smith's flame shaping raw ore into something you'd wear. This is a month that wants to make you shine, and wants that shine to be worth something.
The magnetism of the month
Influence is the hexagram of attraction. Lake resting on Mountain, the young courting the old, feeling moving between two people before a single word is spoken. It doesn't teach you to convince, push, or close. It teaches resonance. You move others by being genuinely moved yourself; you draw your people by staying open enough for real feeling to pass through you.
For a woman running a business, this is the good news of the season: it's a magnetic month. Visibility lands. Launches find their people. The right clients feel pulled toward you rather than sold to. Yin Fire illuminates, the Rooster makes you want to be seen, and Influence says: let yourself be a magnet, not a megaphone.
But the energy rarely hands you the gift without the discipline.
Conflict is Heaven pulling up and Water sinking down; two forces set against each other, moving in opposite directions by nature. It shows up as the friction between what you want and what the moment is actually offering, and its counsel is almost never win. The hexagram asks you to step back before you escalate, to meet opposition with clarity instead of force, and to look for the real disagreement underneath the surface one. Pressed all the way to the bitter end, even a "victory" costs more than it returns. This month, that means noticing where you're bracing for a fight and asking whether the tension is pointing you toward a truth you haven't named yet; friction as information, not as an enemy to defeat.
Conflict, line 3 asks for us to be open to the possibility of unification. This will make it possible for old rigidities to give way to flexibility. Do the self-work to achieve greater understanding, increased self-respect, and bring more spontaneous approaches to life’s difficulties.
Card 61, Inner Truth, line 6
Inner Truth is Wind moving over Lake, the breath that stirs the surface without touching bottom, sincerity so real it reaches whatever it meets. This is the hexagram of the open, empty heart: not empty as in hollow, but empty as in unguarded, cleared of pretense so genuine feeling can pass straight through you to another person. It's the deepest source of influence there is, because it can't be performed. People feel the difference between someone saying the right thing and someone meaning it in their bones. For a magnetic month, this is the engine underneath the magnetism. Get quiet, get honest with yourself first, and let what's true at your center do the drawing.
Inner Truth, line 6 asks us to stay focused on the NOW, rather than wandering around in the past or projecting dreams int the future. Stay connected to where your feet are and use them to take the steps needed to create the future you desire.
Card 45, Gathering Together, line 5
Gathering Together is Lake resting on Earth; waters collecting, people assembling, energy pooling around a shared center. It's the hexagram of community, of the crowd that forms when there's a true focal point worth gathering around. But a gathering is only as strong as its center: it needs a real purpose and a leader of genuine integrity, or it scatters as quickly as it formed. Abundance draws a crowd, and a crowd asks something of you in return…preparation, clarity, the steadiness to hold what you've called in. This is your season to convene your people, and to make sure the center they're gathering around is solid enough to hold them.
Gathering Together, line 5 is the leadership line. This is the entrepreneur's line squarely.
This is the long game of magnetism. Influence attracts in a moment, and it keeps them through integrity over time, not intensity in the moment. It may be time for you to reconsider your role as leader, as it may be time for someone else to take the reins so you can make a graceful exit.
Express gratitude daily…and be prepared for others to compliment you as well.
