Cyclone Alert's Alec Busse is joined by sports law expert Mit Winter, who provides legal opinion on Tamin Lipsey's case for an additional year of eligibility for the 2026-27 college basketball season. Winter explains the details of the case, why Lipsey's side of the argument could lead to a positive ruling for athletes and what could come next for Lipsey and other players.
Before the interview, Alex explains some important details about why and how Iowa State basketball could benefit from Lipsey returning for another season of college basketball. The injury to Killyan Toure is a major factor in the details, but so is the high major jump Iowa State is asking JaQuan Johnson and Ryan Prather Jr. to make. Cyclone Alert's Alec Busse and Henry Annen react to Iowa State's 16-13 loss to rival Iowa in Kinnick Stadium with their likes and dislikes from the loss.
Iowa State's rushing offense improved against the Hawkeyes compared to its Week 1 showing, but Jaylen Raynor completed just over 50% of his passes in the loss, so improvement is still needed in the passing offense's efficiency.
But Iowa State's defense bottled up Iowa's rushing attack, limiting the Hawkeyes to only 93 rushing yards in the victory.

Iowa State quarterback Jaylen Raynor accounted for four touchdowns and nearly 200 total passing yards in the victory, but the Cyclones struggled to effectively run the ball throughout the four-quarter game. Defensively, the Cyclone pass rush was dominant, especially in the first half, with Isaac Terrell generating three sacks for Iowa State.
