Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice | 1 Samuel 15 Bible Study
In 1 Samuel chapter 15, Yahuah gives Saul a clear command to carry out judgment against Amalek. However, Saul chooses partial obedience—sparing King Agag and keeping the best of the livestock under the appearance of sacrifice.
When confronted by Samuel, Saul attempts to justify his actions, but the truth is revealed: disobedience cannot be covered by religious acts. Samuel delivers a powerful message that echoes throughout Scripture—“to obey is better than sacrifice.” Because of this, Yahuah rejects Saul as king.
This chapter teaches that obedience must be complete, not partial, and that leadership before Yahuah requires humility, submission, and faithfulness to His word.
In this episode of The Daily Bread Podcast, we read 1 Samuel 15 in its entirety and reflect on the themes of obedience, accountability, leadership, and the consequences of rejecting Yahuah’s instructions.
