Speakeasy Hauntings — Fexingo Horror

The Dancer at the Foxfire Roadhouse

Listen Later

October 1927. A two-lane highway through the pine barrens of northern Minnesota, and a roadhouse that appears only when the fog rolls in off the bog. Luna's cousin Frankie was a lineman for the telephone company, running wire through country no one wanted to map. He told her about a night he pulled over at a place called the Foxfire Roadhouse — a low building with amber windows and a piano playing inside. The woman who danced there alone on the small stage wore a green dress that caught the light like wet leaves. She never spoke. She never stopped moving. And when Frankie asked the bartender her name, he got an answer that made him wish he'd kept driving. This is a story about the things that wait at the edge of the road, about the ones who never get to leave, and about a song that plays on a loop long after the player has gone home. Settle in. The fog is thickening.
