Farah is changing the laws and slowly but surely the societies are changing too. Some arbitresses enjoy this others, like Kathleen hate it.
[out of the original novel]
Kathleen was never married. She never had a real partnership.
She was born as the first generation after the earthquake. A little girl growing up after the crisis, in the confusion of a new sort
of life she was educated by hard-headed women who hated all men. She never felt empathy. Not really for women but even less for men.
For her men were just creatures, she did not care about, they were negligible and exchangeable.
As Farah changed the laws she did not follow. For her it was already strange that men got any sort of education in a school. To teach them
together with girls was unacceptable.
