A group of friends who rebel,have powers, and go on an adventure sounds familiar but as Episode 64 shows The Darkest Mind is an another enjoyable movie. Though expectation was not high from the trailers and marketing, the movie managed to be entertaining enough to see it through but left The Reel-ists wanting more. Donnie found the movie left some questions unanswered which worked as both good and bad for the movie. Oscar found the chemistry between the actors and their characters to be a highlight for this movie as it became the driving force for the movie. Both noticed many predictable beats and cliche tropes that didn't make the movie stand out amongst other young adult adaptations. While this movie felt that it was pulling from stories we have recently seen, there was still just enough that helped keep this movie (and possibly new franchise) entertaining.
