The Dawning of the New Age (Matthew 2:13-18)
We turn in this sermon to the unpopular Christmas message. It’s a message that you’ll never read of a Christmas card or sing of in a Christmas carol. It’s a
message you’ll never see this depicted in a nativity display, or featured in a children’s Bible. It's the account of the awful slaughter of babies by King Herod.
But it nonetheless brings forth an important reality. That Christmas is not good news for everyone. That Jesus is not acceptable to everyone. The reality is message of Christmas - that Jesus came as God’s King to claim the rightful rule over ever human being is a challenging message. At the same time, it gives
us the glorious hope that God is sovereign over all events bringing salvation out of evil.
