The day Aurora was born, I was deep in addiction—using, selling meth, and living a life I thought I was trapped in. But in that moment, as I looked at my daughter for the first time, I had a moment of clarity. I knew I was meant for more. I wasn’t meant to die in that life. I was meant to be her dad. To help others struggling with addiction.

I stayed clean for the first nine years of her life, but addiction doesn’t let go easy. I relapsed. I struggled. And I made life harder for her than I ever meant to. She grew up without a mom, and my relapse made that even more devastating.
