At the start of ninth grade, things felt steady. My friendships were consistent, the routine at the Dayridge House remained familiar, and nothing seemed out of place. Then everything changed.
In this episode, I share the moment that shifted the course of that year. It was an experience that changed everything, leading to my removal from the home and placement with family friends. I also reflect on where things stood with both of my parents at the time, including my mom’s continued mental health decline and the early stages of reconnecting with my dad.
This chapter marks another unexpected turn in my story, one I didn’t ask for but had to find a way through.
Trigger warning: This episode includes content related to trauma and may be difficult for some listeners.
Names and places have been changed for privacy. The memories are real, and the impact still lingers.
Thank you for being here and walking through this with me.
