In the fall of October 2002, a series of seemingly random shootings occurred in and around Washington, D.C. The country was still reeling from the events of September 11, 2001, and these shootings were terrifying. The authorities figured out the shootings extended to multiple states. They eventually identified the snipers as 41-year-old John Allen Muhammad and 17-year-old Lee Boyd Malvo.

The Sleepwalking Murders

Ruby Franke began making videos on YouTube and, over time, created a pretty large following. The videos on her channel, named 8 Passengers, focused on her family of eight as they navigated through life. However, the audience began to see some disturbing signs in the Franke's parenting.

But she bonded with Ruby to the point that she began following her advice and teachings. This relationship was combustible, and it caused irreparable harm to the Franke children.
