Difficult to get into
Love Saul Bellow but this one was too much for me. I just couldn't get into it. Bellow experimenting, I think.

Brilliant
A profound and psychologically complex classic. I have read all of Bellow's fiction, and this is his most mature work in my opinion. Not a light or easy read, but brutally honest and touching. Every page gives food for thought.
Like Happy Hour With An Old Friend
You won't find gore or pulsating violence in the Charles Paris mysteries. You will find an appealing main character - Charles Paris - with a few (sometimes endearing) imperfections, an interesting story line, a good solid command of the English language, and a generally upbeat resolution to the imbroglio. An interesting aspect of this series for me is that I feel like I'm becoming friends with Mr. Paris and, like a friend, I believe I'll just ring him up to hear of his latest pickle. This stuff isn't heavy; it's just fun.
