In August, 2008, 18 mountain climbers reached the top of K2. 48 hours later, 11 people were dead.

With breathtaking cinematography and jaw dropping reenactments based on the testimony of those who survived the climb, the documentary THE SUMMIT puts you in the heart of events as though you are there.

Director Nick Ryan joins us (he's the Irish voice on the phone) along with the heroic sherpa in the story Pemba Galjen.

Mark Monroe is our in studio guest and he wrote this documentary and his history is littered with some of the greatest documentaries of the last 10 years.  Specifically, his film THE COVE won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film.  He also wrote THE TILLMAN STORY and CHASING ICE.

Mark Thompson asks Monroe about those films and about the riveting story that is the subject of THE SUMMIT.
