The news of Mark Dantonio's resignation came the day Derek was in Boston and couldn't comment on the podcast about the big event.  Since Kane and Ned were able to deliver their thoughts and release it shortly before the State of the Union, Derek decided to do his response to both their episode and Dantonio as a whole.
