He also discusses a study that quantifies at hair loss associated with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) use. “Three-quarters had some either new or worsening hair shedding, and it was severe in about a third,” he says of this study, which appears in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. “Men had less of a risk for hair loss than women."

Meeting transgender patients where they are. “Have that open conversation about their treatment goals and what they're trying to accomplish [as] that can be really helpful in making sure that you're heading in the right direction,” he says.

We're sort of figuring out these different phenotypes because…if you've treated enough HS patients, you can start to notice patterns and see that HS isn't always the same in everybody, and it doesn't follow the same course,” Dr. Daveluy says. He also provides a sneak peek into the now-bustling HS pipeline.

"I'm really excited for dual-target therapy. We're seeing this sort of emerge in the inflammatory bowel disease space, and we actually have our first HS trial that's going to have a dual target with OX40 ligand and umor necrosis factor-alpha, and so I think that's going to be really interesting," he says.

Among the key study findings:
