After hitting dead ends in the medical system for her digestive issues, genetic skin condition and infertility, she desperately searched for answers and discovered the power of real food.  She overcame my digestive problems, her skin condition (after doctors said there was nothing more they could do) and got pregnant in 6 weeks after trying for over a year.  A few years and three kids later, she decided to go back to school to understand how real food did that!

Pathologizing Lifestyle: Dr. Ben’s Predictions For The Near Future Of Healthcare

In this episode Dr. Ben welcomes Dr. Stephen Sideroff, an internationally recognized expert in resilience, optimal performance, addiction, neurofeedback and alternative approaches to stress and mental health.
He is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences, with a joint appointment in the Department of Rheumatology at UCLA’s School of Medicine, as well as the Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Ethics.  For over 40 years, Dr. Sideroff has been passionate about studying and understanding resilience and optimal performance.  He has developed and established innovative models of behavior and treatment approaches for restoring physical, emotional and mental balance and effectiveness in North America, Europe and Asia.  He has worked with a number of elite athletes, as well as teams, including the UCLA men’s basketball team, the Pepperdine men’s basketball team, the UCLA women’s golf team, the US Men’s National soccer team, and the Nike women’s beach volleyball team.  He has translated his experience with athletes into innovative performance strategies with executives and others that he calls, The Path.

He writes often on autism, science and public policy issues for Age of Autism and has published a number of articles, letters and commentaries on autism in journals such as Public Health Reports, the International Journal of Toxicology, the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, Neurotoxicology and Medical Hypotheses. He has also been invited to peer review articles in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Epidemiology, Pediatrics and the International Journal of Toxicology.  He recently co-authored a book on autism, called The Age of Autism: Mercury, Medicine and a Man-made Epidemic, (Thomas Dunne, September 2010).
