"The Devil's Backbone" is an episode from the Nightfall radio drama series, written by Silver Donald Cameron. The story takes place in the sea near Halifax, Nova Scotia, in an area known as the Devil’s Backbone. Two divers set out to find a sunken treasure, but their expedition takes a terrifying turn when one of them discovers claw marks on his diving suit after resurfacing. As they learn more about the area, they hear rumours of a curse that haunts the waters.
