I have heard it from the time I was a little boy, little man can’t get ahead.  We all picked the cotton but we never got rich.  And so many other sayings about being poor.

But someone around you got rich, got results that everyone was looking for.  Direction of your work matters just as much as working hard at it.

I like to say the size of the boat you are rowing matters.  You can row across the ocean in a canoe or a giant ship.  The giant ship is more likely to make it across but the canoe can do it.

  • Working hard does not automatically guarantee results
  • Effort matters, but direction matters more
  • You can stay busy all day and still make no real progress
  • Long hours
  • Constant activity
  • Staying busy
  • Doing task after task
  • Watching business videos, motivational clips, and strategies all day
  • Never actually creating content, launching, or selling anything
  • Reworking logos, websites, products, or designs repeatedly
  • Never putting the product in front of customers
  • Answering emails all day
  • Organizing files
  • Tweaking tiny details
  • Uploading constantly but never analyzing hooks, titles, or audience response
  • Repeating weak strategies without adjustment
  • Working out hard every day
  • No nutrition plan, no progressive overload, no consistency in recovery
  • Being busy feels productive
  • Hard work creates emotional satisfaction
  • They focus on activity instead of outcomes
  • Burnout
  • Frustration
  • Wasted energy and time
  • Slow growth
  • Results are created by focused execution, not random effort
  • Do more tasks
  • Stay constantly occupied
  • Feel productive
  • See little real progress
  • Input:
    • Hours worked
    • Energy spent
  • Output:
    • Revenue created
    • Progress made
    • Problems solved
  • Multitasking
  • Prioritizing low-value tasks
  • Avoiding difficult work
  • Spending too much time planning instead of executing
  • Focus on:
    • Revenue-producing tasks
    • Skill-building
    • Execution
    • Decision-making
  • Identify the highest-value task each day
  • Eliminate distractions
  • Measure progress weekly
  • Focus on outcomes, not appearances
  • From: “I worked hard today”
  • To: “Did I move closer to the result?”
  • Content:
    • Consistent posting with strong messaging
  • Business (Ensorsale):
    • Focusing on launches, ads, and execution
  • Personal growth:
    • Prioritizing actions that actually create progress
  • Confusing movement with progress
  • Staying busy to avoid difficult priorities
  • Never measuring results
  • Most people work hard inefficiently
  • If you combine effort with strategy—you separate quickly
  • Identify the 20% of actions creating most of your results
  • Spend more time there this week
  • Cut unnecessary tasks immediately
  • “Hard work matters, but focused execution matters more. The people who win are not just working harder—they’re working on the right things consistently.”
