Join Katherine Bright as she talks to artist Dominique Oberhauser about her life journey, her spirituality and her artistic creativity.
Dominique was born and grew up in France before migrating to Australia in 1989. She discovered the process of illuminated art through a calligraphy course, and specialises in the creation of small size paintings combining the use of gold leaf, gouache and pigments to illuminate her artistic work.
Her upbringing in France, surrounded by a rich cultural heritage and an interest in art and history, made this type of artwork a natural choice for her. She particularly enjoys working on a small art pieces with very fine detail. Her work is mainly inspired from medieval illuminated manuscripts, books of Hours, medieval scenes and stained glass windows.
Since 2006, Dominique has lived in the historical village of Richmond in Tasmania, an ideal setting for this talented artist.
