COVID 19 research is important, and green open access research sites which allow researchers to self-publish their studies online on sites such as MedRXiv have led to many important findings which have saved lives, but have also led to disinformation and fueled anti-vaccine as well as anti-mask movements. We discuss the history of these sites and go over the pros and cons of the research and studies that are now very accessible to the public prior to peer review.
