You are not selfish, you are not cold.
You are afraid …
to trust someone,
to depend on someone,
to expect from someone,
… again.
You just don’t want …
to be heartbroken
to be disappointed
to be misunderstood
… again.
That’s why
the mask
the wall
the armour.
To protect yourself
even at the cost of
cutting off the love, care & warmth
that you value & yearn for.
That’s your dilemma.
If you let your guard down
another blow might shatter
your carefully held broken pieces
that you are working so hard to mend.
Yet if you don’t let the
the love, the care, the warmth in;
the seed of limitless possibilities
flickering inside you
might wither & die.
Making this choice is never easy.
There isn’t any easy solution.
But I know you’ll find your way.
You’ll learn to build a house
with walls and roof to protect you
yet with doors and windows to
let the light, the breeze in.
You’ll have the ability to choose
when you want to open your windows
who you want to let in through your door.
You’ll figure it all out. You got this.

It’s so easy to misunderstand each other’s silence, absence, distance…
We get so busy with our own inner turmoils, that we rarely attempt to look beyond the mask, the armour of the other person.
What pain are they hiding? What are they struggling with?
This is my feeble attempt trying to decode some of those intricate mysteries of human mind, emotions & relationships.
