In July 2019, a 4 year old girl named Paislee vanished without a trace. On that particular day, court officials arrived at her home to remove her from the custody of her biological parents, who had their paternal rights taken away by the court. She was supposed to be placed with her new legal guardians. However, no one was there.
 
Paislee and her parents had disappeared, but days later the father reappeared claiming that his wife and daughter had run away, and that he had tried to find them with no success. A very poorly told story. Mother and daughter remained missing for years, until in 2022 they were found, in a place where no one could have imagined.
 
The discovery led to the arrest of three people, including Paislee’s own father and this raised a difficult question. Were they criminals, or just desperate parents who didn't want to lose custody of their daughter?
