The idea of an inside man is often associated with the world of espionage. We tend to think of that person as a “mole” or “under cover agent,” inserted into a situation for the purpose of undermining the environment they infiltrate. When we apply this concept to Elisha, we see that he fits the description to a tee. The Lord strategically and divinely inserted the prophet into a world just like ours – with struggles, rebellion, fallen leadership and strife – for the purpose of undermining the work of the devil. As we kick off our new series this Sunday, we will look at the foundation set by his mentor, Elijah, and the impact of that relationship on him. We will also realize that the call on the life of Elisha to be God’s inside man is the very call on each of us today.
