The DPDL Talent Development Podcast returns with a new season! To kick things off, we're joined by former Kerala Blaster's Head Coach - Terry Phelan. He made 42 appearances for the Irish national team, whom he represented at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Throughout the 90's, Terry established himself as a regular in the English Premier League representing AFC Wimbledon, Manchester City, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham and many more. He is currently the Technical Director at South United Football Club in Bengaluru and continues to play a key role guiding and mentoring upcoming coaches at the club. In the episode, we discuss Terry's journey developing as a talent from the Leeds United Academy and making it professional. He talks about the importance of the environment for a coach and how Youth Coaches in India can improve their skills and knowledge of the game.

Episode 4 of the DPDL Talent Development Podcast dives into the story of Bengaluru FC assistant coach Naushad Moosa! Although his playing journey initially started off as a striker, listen in as he narrates the life-changing moment when he turned into a hard-tackling defender and how that decision enabled him to play for some of India's leading football clubs such as Air India, Churchill Brothers, East Bengal, Mahindra United and Mohammedan Sporting in the mid 90's and early 2000's. Episode 3 dives into the journey of Bangalore City FC (BCFC) founder and Head Coach Bo Renes! From Holland to USA and finally to India - Coach Bo has a unique story, combining his passion for the game with his newly discovered love for India in the late 2000's. There are no shortcuts to success at the grassroots level, it takes time, patience, effort and a lot of love to build a success story like BCFC. Coach Bo takes us through his vision for building a talent development pathway at the academy, including how he prepares his two squads Mystics and Magics for competition. We also discuss the iconic moment BCFC were crowned Champions of Double Pass Development League (DPDL) back in 2019/20 by winning both U7 and U9 titles and finishing runner-up in the U11 category. We kick off the show with a very special guest from Belgium - Ariël Jacobs! He's the former manager of RSC Anderlecht who is famously remembered as the man who gave a 16-year old Romelu Lukaku his first professional debut. Having a long and distinguished career in football management, Ariël also went on to win the Danish Superliga Title in 2012/13 with FC Copenhagen, adding to his two Belgian 1st Division Championship Titles with RSC Anderlecht. Having overseen high-profile encounters in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League as a manager, Mr. Jacobs certainly understands a thing or two about pressure. In this episode, he talks about THAT famous debut and the career path it forged for Lukaku, he gives us his words of wisdom for young coaches and parents who are working towards producing players and also discusses what Indian football can learn from his experiences in Belgium.
