The Dust Settles - All Ireland Final Debrief

Listen Later

As the dust still settles, and plenty of parties continue after the three All Ireland Finals at the weekend, our final episode of our Ladies Gaelic Football Podcast is now live. Host Diarmuid Kearney is joined again by regulars Clare Owens (Leitrim) and Joanne Doonan (Fermanagh) to unpack all the events from the weekend.

We have three new All Ireland Champions, and plenty to breakdown from the various finals, on our final episode of Season 1 of the podcast.

In the Junior decider, redemption was the story of the day for Louth, 12 months after suffering defeat in the TG4 All Ireland Junior decider, they delivered a pulsating second half performance to defeat Antrim in headquarters.

Afterwards we heard from captain Áine Breen and sharpshooter Kate Flood, who announced her retirement shortly after proceedings. We also heard from Antrim manager Chris Scullion who shared his thoughts after their first defeat of the year.

Redemption was also the story for Tyrone, where a late goal from super sub Katie Rose Muldoon helped ignite a late flurry which ensured that Tyrone did not leave empty handed this year, as they defeated Laois in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Final.

Afterwards we heard from captain Aoibhinn McHugh, player of the match and teenage sensation Sorcha Gormely along with Meabh Corrigan, while manager Darren McCann also shared his thoughts.

And finally in the Senior decider, it was seventh heaven for Dublin, as they delivered a tour de force performance to overcome Meath by 12 points in today’s All Ireland Senior Championship Final.

Their Midfield Maestro originally from Leitrim, Eilish O’Dowd shared her thoughts to us after the clash, having missed out on their 2024 campaign, she added a second All Ireland title to her impressive career.

For the last time this season, expect honest chat, plenty of insight, Clare’s dodgy Wifi and a few laughs along the way!
