Bob served in the Metropolitan Police Service for 36 years, ending as Commander Public Order and Gold Commander for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was the Borough commander for the London Borough of Sutton and the deputy Borough commander in Lambeth. A long-standing member of the Met's advanced public order cadre, he covered every conceivable type of event and was the Gold commander for many iconic London events. He was also a hostage and crisis negotiator for 20 years, one of small group of officers who together saved hundreds of lives.
