The dystopian novel relates to the Soviet Workcamps in the 1970’s, where prisoners are confined to work until death or until they were on the verge of dying. During the podcast, we will also talk about the Toxic Colonies in the novel and how she used her writing skills to display the historical event in a novel of today. We will discuss real life actions and events that could relate closely to the event that took place in Gilead.
