On the 7th episode of the economics of me podcast we explore the trade policy of Tariffs.
We are talking about tariffs…an incredibly topical trade policy at the moment given Trumps recent win in the US election and recent announcements on blanket tariffs to be imposed on Mexico and Canada.
In our previous episodes we’ve talked about inflation, the concept of money and assets like housing and stocks - but how do tariffs affect all of these things? Can this invisible tax play out like a ripple effect through the entire economy?
We’ll ask what are tariffs? How they work? How does it affect the things that I buy, the job that I have and how it disproportionately impacts the middle and working classes.
