The EcoScientist podcast is hosted by Amalya Valle. Amalya is an animal ecologist and a passionate science communicator and conservationist. Through the EcoScientist podcast, Amalya shares her own as well as other people's experiences, with hopes to break down walls between the scientific community and everyday people. In addition to this, she hopes to bring a sense of comfort, clarity and belonging to struggling conservationists and undergraduates alike.
In each episode, Amalya tackles big issues faced by those in science and conservation that are not commonly addressed. This ranges from climate change induced anxiety and the common feeling conservationists experience of being too small to have an impact; all the way to increasing your knowledge and skills in order to find employment in the field you love and putting yourself one step in front of your peers. Amalya also speaks about her own experiences as a young woman in stem and interviews others (including minority groups) about their own experiences.
If you are looking for inspiration and information for better performance in science and conservation, some tips on studying and expanding your knowledge and skills or just to feel a little more at home and connected to other people in your field, this is the place to be.
In this episode Amalya introduces herself and gives an overview of the topics she will be covering throughout the next few episodes.
