When Ford created the Edsel they were finally recovering from the disaster of World War II, and the mismanagement of the elder Henry Ford who had become paranoid and unreliable in his later years. A group of men known as the Whiz Kids had helped turn the company into a lean, efficient company, and now it was time to turn the page and write new brighter history with a car that would look to the future.
