The Emerging Age Of Digital Automation
By Edward Robinson

Hello, It's time for the Ed Is Better With Tech Podcast Series, for April 6th, 2018.

I'm Edward Robinson!

The Emerging Age Of Digital Automation is the day and the time we live in,
right now, Today!

Today is different than yesterday, and contrasts from the tommorrow that is
just on the horizon. But, what makes today so much different than yesterday? I
think you know...

It used to be that:

We could ignore technology if we wanted to.
People ignored the World Wide Web as a legitimate resource for assignments.
People used paper to hand in most assignments.
School was mostly about reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Technology was a class that you took, if you wanted to.

But today:

The effects of Technology in our modern world cannot be ignored.
The World Wide Web is a respected, emerging source of current news and
information, as well as a repository for encyclopedic knowledge.
Assignments can be emailed, posted online, or uploaded to an online venue.
Technology literacy informs Literacy, including Advanced Math, Digital
Citizenship, and Robotics.
Technology's effects affect each class in the curriculum.

As we prepare for tomorrow, Computer Technology and Artificial Intelligence
point the way in the direction of computer assisted work, and artificial
intelligence capable of doing mundane, repetitive, troublesome tasks that
humans do not enjoy.
Often computers will work alongside humans, who will
control and direct them, according to McKinsey and Company, 2018.
The Internet Of Things, (IoT), is an example of how technology and automation is finding its way into our work and homes. Self-driving vehicles, as they compare to Global Positioning System, (GPS), and turn by turn directions, on our smartphones, would be an appropriate analogy to where we are headed with regard to humans working alongside robots, and automation to accomplish taskwork.

As one might expect, there will be challenges to overcome with every new technology.

We need to prepare workers to use technology to control these computers, as
well as utilize e-learning to be trained to understand new challenges, and how
to implement the solutions to them.
Thanks for clicking in, and we'll see you online!
