As we gathered online to discuss our thoughts, feelings and experiences during the period of lockdown, several themes or refrains seemed to echo and resonate in our conversations. One of these echos we thought worth remembering was the idea of EMERGENCE.

Emerging /ɪˈməːdʒɪŋ/

• To move out of or away from something and become visible.
• To become apparent or prominent.
• To recover from or survive a difficult situation.
• Starting to exist.

Late 16th century (in the sense ‘become known, come to light’): from Latin emergere, from e- (variant of ex- ) ‘out, forth’ + mergere ‘to dip’.
