Imagine that today were your last day and you’re lying on your deathbed. Imagine the people in your life whom you love – one person at a time. What would you like to say to them? What would you like them to say about you? What would you like them to think about you? Imagine your last day. You would never see them again. Not on this side of eternity. If today were that last day of eternity, could you say you have done your best? Could you be bold to say you have given your all: that you have been the best version of yourself? Will you be able to rest well in your grave, knowing well that the time you’ve been given, you’ve spent well?
It is not your last day yet! You have today!
Create your ideal end and live with the strong impression of it on your mind. Having the end in view helps you to have a direction: A direction that points you to your destination. Without a destination, how would you know if the direction you’re in will take you there?
Take charge of today because it is yours. Do not leave anything to chance. If there’s something to be done, then do it. If there’s something to be said, then say it. We won’t have all the time forever. To deny that you will die is dangerous. Putting the end in view fuels you with power to live today to the fullest.
Imagine a race without a finish line. The runners will have no motivation whatsoever. They could as well start to stroll leisurely on the tracks because there is no mark to measure their accomplishment with.
So set your finish line clearly. Today and everyday of your life, put the end in view of you and let it propel you to focused action.
