We have to remember that Daniel was not written to give us a history lesson about Babylonians, Medes, and Persians.
It was written to encourage the Hebrew people, God’s people, that though they had been defeated and exiled, God was sovereignly in control, and they should trust him even when they could not trace his hand.
He is working out his plans and accomplishing his purposes, and every now then he lets us in on what he is doing.
