Every year, Apple fans go through a bit of a nail-biting ritual: waiting to see if their beloved device survives the next major software cut. For iOS 27, the news is a bit bittersweet as we prepare to say goodbye to some true classics. Apple’s roadmap points to a June 2026 reveal at WWDC, with a final release in September. Unfortunately, the update train is officially leaving the station without the entire iPhone 11 lineup and the second-generation iPhone SE from 2020. While these phones have served us faithfully, their processors simply can't keep up with the heavy lifting required for the next generation of artificial intelligence and advanced features. If you are holding an iPhone 12, you can breathe a sigh of relief for now, as it has become the new baseline for survival. However, don't get too comfortable just yet. Even though the iPhone 12 series is on the lucky list, Apple hints that the most demanding machine learning and augmented reality tricks might still be reserved for newer models with more horsepower. It is a clear sign that the tech giant is shifting its focus toward a future powered by AI, leaving older hardware to eventually join the vintage collection. While it is tough to see great devices lose support, it ensures that the system stays snappy and secure for everyone else moving forward.
