Week 32: Unstoppable Kingdom - A Journey Through Acts
September 5, 2021 - Acts 18:24-19:8

Toward the end of the Apostle Paul’s ministry, he went to a large pagan city in Asia called Ephesus. Breaking ground here would be difficult. This city was decadent, idolatrous, and would likely be resistant to the gospel. Many church-planters today would likely opt to launch somewhere else. Not Paul. Soon, he found a dozen disciples of John the Baptist. Remember, John was Jesus’ cousin and he told everyone that Jesus was the Messiah, the king of Israel and redeemer of all humanity. But these guys hadn’t heard of Jesus! They were still following the old way. So Paul took these 12 people and taught them — among many others — for the next two years (Imagine the Apostle Paul discipling you for two years!). And this is what the scriptures say happened as a result of their training: “all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord.” Do you think God can do this again in our city? Do you think that God can break the hard ground of our community and society so that people can hear the gospel? Do you think that God can renew lives and transform our city? We think so.
