He served as the President of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) from 1998 to 2006, where he focused on religious guidance, educational initiatives, and social welfare programs. His leadership extended to the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) and the Al Quds Foundation, where he continues to play a vital role.



Gabriels is particularly known for his advocacy for Palestinian rights. He has organized numerous solidarity campaigns and led humanitarian missions to Palestine, driven by his own experiences with apartheid. His work with the Al Quds Foundation has been instrumental in educating the community about the Palestinian struggle and supporting various initiatives related to this cause.



In addition to his activism, Ebrahim Gabriels has served as the Imam of Al-Masjidur Rawbie in Portlands for over 35 years.
