In this parable Jesus calls for a special type of hearing that only some people have. This type of hearing hears God’s Word as beautiful, transformative and compelling. Unfortunately there are many things that hinder our hearing. Jesus explains that our hearts must be like fertile soil so that we can accept God’s Word and ultimately produce a changed life.
