Phil Alongi and I met as kids. We both had asthma and had to go to the nurse's office to get our inhalers every day. Ironically, the guy who had asthma so bad that he had to change schools (Phil), went on to become a booming tenor opera singer, who is also an Emmy-winning news producer.
I loved getting to catch up with Phil. He gave his unique perspective on covering the news of the day, took me through the meandering path of his career, and reminded me of some fantastic times from my childhood.
Check out Phil's opera site here.
