The Eternal Emigrant

The Eternal Emigrant - Ep 7 - Petra Hulova

Listen Later

This week, we have our first foreign writer in The Eternal Emigrant. Petra Hůlová shares with us her experiences during the year she spent in Mongolia and how that experience influenced her novel All This Belongs to Me. We also talked about her time in the US and had a very interesting chat about cultural perception. After that, we discussed in detail her last work, The Movement, a dystopian novel where women must be valued by their inner qualities instead of their physical attributes, and had a conversation on how some "feminist" groups perceived her last work. We also exchanged some opinions on other topics such as the current moment of the literary industry or the state subsidies to writers. Petra, who doesn't mince her words, offers an honest and straightforward opinion on all these topics.
