Echoes of Ryan

The Event is the Meaning

Listen Later

Season 2, Episode 13

What if the Gospels are teaching us something deeper than fulfilled prediction? In this episode of Echoes of Ryan, we examine a recurring narrative pattern that runs through Christ’s ministry: utterance, event, remembrance, and recognition. Jesus speaks, history unfolds, the disciples remember, and only then does the full meaning become visible. Drawing on the Gospel of John, the prophetic tradition, narrative theology, and the Passion narratives, this episode argues that Christ’s words and actions form a single revelatory act. Gethsemane becomes the principal test case, explored not by redefining the Greek text, but by reading the prayer in light of the completed Gospel narrative. The central thesis is simple yet far-reaching: Christ does not merely describe reality—He reveals reality by living it. The event is not only evidence of the meaning. In Christ, the event becomes the meaning.
