Seven Hebrew Words for Praise
Yâdâh-to reverence or worship with extended hands
Halal – To praise with vigorous foolishness
Zamar – To praise with music or song
Tôwdâh-an expression of thanks, praise, confession
Bârak-to bless God
Tehillâh-to extol highly
Shâbach-to address in a loud tone
Towdah
An expression of praise, thanks or confession
We give God thanks as an offering for all that He has done for us. We offer thanks to God because He has poured out His divine provision on our lives over and over again. Towdah can be given in advance of the work of God as an act of faith that He will move. It is an expectation that God is going to do great things.
Why does giving thanks matter?
Offering thanks communicates God’s place
Offering thanks connects God’s blessings
Offering thanks creates an atmosphere of praise
Offering thanks conveys God’s goodness
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving (Towdah) and extol him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
– Psalm 95:1-3
God produces joy in our lives
Joy floods us with strength
Joy flows with thanksgiving
Joy fills us with confidence
Joy feeds our spirit
God provides us salvation
The Rock was a place of shelter

God desires a refreshing for us
God presents to us His greatness

Conclusion
Through thanks we experience the love of God
