This week's scripture is the Gospel of John's account of Jesus being anointed by Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus. This scripture passage has often focused on Jesus' statement, "that the poor will always be among you." Yet, our attention should shift to the silent action of Mary as she anoints Jesus's feet. Our sermon looks at how Mary's acts of adoration of Jesus can be an example for us as we observe Lent. In response to this week's scripture and sermon, consider this question: "What will my extravagant response to Christ's extravagant love and sacrifice look like?"
This sermon was preached by Rev. Robert Galloway on April 3, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte.
