Stanley Berent was born on 24th November 1901 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born with a condition known as Phocomelia, a condition commonly associated with prenatal exposure to the morning-sickness drug Thalidomide.   


Berent performed under the stage name Sealo The Seal Boy for 35 years before passing away in 1980 aged 79.
