A Little Predictable
Sheriff John Twait and his wife of 20 years, Sarah, are a month away from retirement. The little town of Hillsville, Nebraska is a fairly quiet town. Twait is training his replacement, Detective Mike Yeager. It's a culture shock for him .... dial-up internet, CSI is a box with fingerprinting supplies.
And then it seems like a dark cloud has covered their little town. First they find the body of an elderly lady and her adult daughter is missing. This would be the first murder here in at least 30 years.
But it doesn't end there. Two more citizens are murdered. No clues, no fingerprints, no suspects.
So how do these murders connect to an on-line social network? And since all the bodies had traces of heroin ... where is the heroin coming from? Are these killings motivated by revenge, greed, money? And just what part do twitching eyes play?
Since this is a short story, Twait has only a little time to solve the crime.
The characters are okay as far as a short story will allow the author to give them some depth. I really liked the cover .. that's what drew me in to begin with. Story line is a little predictable, except for the ending. That was a shocker!
Didn't this guy have an editor
Not a bad story idea for a novella but soooo many errors. Wrong words, words used in error and so much more. Really bad, obviously this guy didn't have anyone else read it before he published.
This one begs for proofing and editing
Unfortunately, I can't really recommended this short story to anyone other than a competent editor. This story is difficult to read due to the author's writing style and is particularly bad when his characters are conversing. There are myriad mistakes in puncuation and grammar, not to mention a plethora of spelling errors and omissions. Additionally, the characters seemed flat and one dimensional and the author saw fit to give unusual traits to many of them. There just wasn't anybody who was really likable. Now add a predictable plot with no real shocking twists or turns and you end up with, at best, a 2-star read.
Too silly
Characters not realistic at all. Plot ridiculous. Don't know why I kept reading it. I would not recommend this book.
Eye Twitch Review
Don't enjoy giving bad reviews, but this is the first book that I ever just quit reading and deleted from my Kindle. Whatever category - grammer, punctuation, context, maturity level, style, etc., it is the worst book I've ever read. My apologies to the author, but the book should have been handed to a friend or editor to read first so that they could have told the author that it should never be submitted for actual publication without a complete re-write.
