This week, we chatted with Isabella Mandis, the founder of Girls Into VC and the youngest honoree on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Boston list. Isabella went to an all-girls school, and when she arrived at Harvard, she often found herself the only woman in the room. She talks with us about what the statistics on women in VC leave out, how 30 calls a day taught her to be comfortable with the “unscripted,” how the right mentors teach you to trust your own call, and the Stanford rejection she's now grateful for. The Failing Forward Podcast is run by Duke University student, Anushka Sridhar. Our goal is to empower female college students to take risks, embrace failure, and lead boldly. We hope that anyone listening feels a little more confident to embrace failure rather than fear it! Check us out across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok at the tag @failingforwardduke
This week, we sat down with physicist and motivational speaker Dr. Ruth D. Jones. After an emergency surgery ended her Air Force plans, she pivoted to college, switched from accounting to physics, and went on to spend nearly 3 decades at NASA. She talks with us about finding your LEGACY, building your "board of personal directors," and why FAIL is really just your "First Attempt In Learning."

This week, we chatted with Sarah Phillips, the newly appointed CEO of Girls into VC, an organization of over 10,000 members across 60 countries. Sarah came to Princeton certain she'd be a neurosurgeon. She then accidentally joined a finance club, accidentally landed a VC internship, and walked away from her premed plans she'd had since she was five. She talks with us about having been one of two girls in a 20-person VC club, the imposter syndrome that didn't disappear when she got the CEO title, and the marathon she trained five months for and never got to run.

This week, we sat down with Dr. Haesun Moon, a communication scientist and the author of "Coaching A to Z: The Extraordinary Use of Ordinary Words." She teaches at the University of Toronto, serves on the faculty of the Institute of Coaching, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, and founded Pracademia. Her Dialogic Orientation Quadrant (DOQ) is used around the world to understand and improve conversations in coaching, leadership, and education. She talks with us about why asking how to get from a seven to a ten paralyzes us instead of motivating us, why "meanings grow like potatoes," her ESL experience when she arrived in Canada at 17 years old, and the word that she calls "the shortest intervention" in any conversation.

This week, we sat down with Tara Mohr, the author of Playing Big and the creator of the global Playing Big leadership program for women. Her book was named a "Best Book of the Year" by Apple's iBooks, her work has been featured everywhere from the New York Times to Harvard Business Review, and she's taught her program at Google and Starbucks. Tara talks with us about why everything we do to feel ready isn't adding up to confidence, what your inner critic is trying to protect you from, the question to ask yourself instead of "am I good enough," and her not-so-straight path to publishing her book.
