10After we had been there several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and hand him over to the Gentiles.’ ” 12When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. Acts 21:10-12
Paul’s friends did not want him to go to Jerusalem for fear the Jews would arrest him and put him to death. However, Paul understood that God has plans that men cannot understand.
For I have taken all this to my heart and explain it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are in the hand of God. Man does not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits him. ECC 9:1
Due to the hatred and accusations of the Jews, Paul was able to testify to people who were in power as well as to tens of thousands of people who otherwise would not have had the Gospel taught to them.
Warrior’s Prayer
Lord, I come before you seeking the strength and skill to overcome my enemies. Grant me I pray, the wisdom to recognize evil, the courage to confront it, and the strength to destroy it. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
