Publisher's Summary:
Terror befalls a rural Chinese village when an ancient evil awakens from its slumber. Within days, the villagers start transforming into horribly deformed blobs of skin with an unshakable hunger for human flesh. The town is soon overrun by an ever-growing mass of skin that devours livestock, houses, and people.
The Chinese government calls in Professor Davis Nickels to investigate the otherworldly horror. A centenarian, occultist, and professor of archaeology, Davis is no stranger to the paranormal, having spent a lifetime battling monsters from beyond human understanding. But age is catching up to the old professor, and this new threat is bigger than anything he's ever faced. With the help of two graduate students and the Chinese military, he sets off to thwart the ancient menace before it can engulf the world.

I Highly Recommend!
There is an ancient evil. This evil has been asleep for so long that it is almost forgotten. Almost... Professor Davis Nickels knows all about the "otherworld." A world that is full of unimaginable horror. But now that ancient evil has awoken, and it threatens everything.
The Father of Flesh by Nicholas Paschall is the epitome of a good horror story. Mr Paschall has created a world that is frightening and yet strangely fascinating.
I thought David Nickels was very well portrayed. Think Indiana Jones. He is an intriguing character who really grows in depth throughout the story.
I thought the word building was very good and Mr Paschall has to be commended for his ability to bring such horror onto paper and make a very compelling and chilling tale.
If you are looking for your next dose of horror, then you can't go far wrong with Nicholas Paschall's, The Father of Flesh.
I Highly Recommend.
Part Indiana Jones, Part Lovecraft, All Horror
Paschall is a masterful storyteller, and it shows. His latest book is about ancient entities beneath the earth that are waking from long slumber, turning the populace into horrible mutations of flesh. Only Prof. Nickels knows how to stop this catastrophe in the making. Think of him like an "Indiana Jones" type of character, but well into his nineties and armed with guns and magic spells. He and his team travel to China to fight this waking beast on its own turf, but there is far more than appears at first blush.
If you like the world-hopping adventure of Indiana Jones with overtones of cosmic horror a la Lovecraft, you'll like "The Father of Flesh." My one concern is that it runs a bit long (just a pet peeve of mine), but I understand that there's a lot going on, and Paschall takes his time setting up the events for a horrific payoff.
Horror of a different shade, new and different
This is horror of a different shade. The author tosses aside tired cliches and goes with something completely new and different. Far away in rural China, an ancient demigod from beneath the earth is awakening, and people are turning into horrible deformed globs of skin, fat, and hair that mindlessly serve the demigod. The creatures are nigh unstoppable, and more of them are coming every day, threatening to overrun the earth.
